Bar Exam Seating for Current OSB Members. If the Oregon
Board of Bar Examiners approves an exam for Member Seating,
then and only then, Oregon State Bar members interested in
obtaining a Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) score may apply for the
upcoming UBE exam hosted by the Oregon State Bar. The goal is
to help members expand into a multi-jurisdictional practice.
Limited Seating. The maximum seating for OSB Members will be
dictated by the maximum seating capacity at the exam sites
throughout the Willamette Valley. Open seats will be awarded to
OSB Members at the site closest to their home address provided
on their application; however, if seating capacity is reached at the
closest site, they will be awarded seats at any available site.
Applications received after we’ve reached seating capacity at all
sites will be rejected. Application fees received after seating
capacity is reached or the application deadline has passed will be
completely refunded.
National Conference for Bar Examiners (NCBE). All scores will
be reported to the NCBE, which maintains official UBE scores.
Those with a score of 260 or higher will be eligible for admission
in at least some UBE states. Those with a score of 270 (Oregon’s
passing score) will be eligible to apply for membership in
approximately 40 jurisdictions without taking a bar exam.
No Impact on Current OSB Membership Status. Exam results
will have no effect on current OSB membership. Scores for any
members already admitted to the OSB will not be reported to the
Oregon Supreme Court or the Oregon State Bar. The names of all
applicants who obtain a score of 270 or higher will be published
with the other members of the February/July cohort who passed the
exam. No other public reference will be made to any member’s
exam performance.
Withdrawals. Applicants who submit withdrawals at least one
week prior to the first day of the exam will be refunded one-half of
the application fee.
