Applications & Information » Member Seating Application » General Information

Member seating applications are open to members, if room permits, after the deadline closes for all other bar exam applicants. This is designed specifically for members who have not taken a bar exam and were admitted via Diploma Privilege in 2020. Or did not take the UBE exam and need a transferable score for acceptance into another jurisdiction. Seating is limited and demand could exceed availability.

Filing Deadlines

The deadline for Member Seating applications is set after the deadline closes for all other bar exam applicants. The current deadline for the July 2025 bar exam is May 15, 2025.

Application Fees

The admission application fee for Member Seating applicants is $1000. Application fees must accompany the completed application forms.

** For further questions, see RFA 4.10.

Bar Exam Seating for Current OSB Members

Oregon State Bar members interested in obtaining a Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) score are eligible to apply for the July exam. The goal is to help members access job markets outside Oregon or expand into a multi-jurisdictional practice. Important notes:

Limited Seating

The maximum seating for OSB members is 23. Applications received after we’ve reached that capacity will be rejected. The deadline to apply is May 15, 2025, and the application fee is $1000.

National Conference for Bar Examiners (NCBE)

All scores will be reported to the NCBE, which maintains official UBE scores. Those with a score of 260 or higher will be eligible for admission in at least some UBE states. Those with a score of 270 (Oregon’s passing score) will be eligible to apply for membership in approximately 36 jurisdictions without taking a bar exam.

No Impact on Current OSB Membership Status

Exam results will have no effect on current OSB membership. Scores for any members already admitted to the OSB will not be reported to the Oregon Supreme Court or the Oregon State Bar. The names of all applicants who obtain a score of 270 or higher will be published with the other members of the February cohort who passed the exam. No other public reference will be made to any member’s exam performance.

Withdrawals

Applicants who submit withdraw will not be eligible for a refund or credit.
